Something to Remember, Something to Cherish.

I had the honour of being the first Tamil Canadian to participate at the Canadian Soccer Association’s 2011 National Challenge Cup. This prestigious tournament dates back to 1913 and knowing I’m the first Tamil to participate in the men’s tournament and represent Ontario at the men’s level, I felt so much pride. The six day tournament (Oct. 5 to Oct. 10) was held in Brossard (South Montreal), Quebec, and I had to bring back something positive to those that supported me in getting here and to our Tamil community.

Press Release: Aadukalam 2011 – International Dance Competition

Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance is proud to announce that the champions of CTYA’s Thaalam 2011, York/Seneca Huskies, will be representing Canada at Aadukalam 2011, an International Dance Competition hosted by the Tamil Youth Network of Germany under the Global Tamil Youth League. Dance teams representing Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland and United Kingdom will be participating in this highly anticipated dance competition on Saturday, October 22, 2011 in Munich, Germany.

Ontario Universities’ Fair (OUF), October 14 – 16, 2011 (10:00am – 5:00pm) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (South Building). Senior secondary school students, their teachers, family and friends are invited to attend this free event. Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program: Public Speaking

A fairly popular program for Teens is coming back to the Lillian Smith Branch, the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program. The program helps young people develop the communication and leadership skills they need to be successful adults. It runs over 8 weeks on Saturday mornings at 10am, starting October 2nd. It is co-sponsed by the Toronto Public Library and District 60 of Toastmasters International.

The Ontario Youth Matter! (OYM) campaign for better youth policies is a network of community organizations calling on the Ontario government to implement a Provincial Youth Policy Framework. Such a Framework can lead to a better alignment of youth services between governments, ministries, and community agencies, and address the broad developmental needs of youth.

UTSC TSA Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

On Friday September 23rd UTSC TSA will be holding an ultimate frisbee tournament. The event will be taking place in the field in the Utsc Valley, near the baseball diamond. All it takes is a 5 dollar pitch per person on the team and you will have 40 bucks to register your team! All proceeds go towards donating to Think Pink Breast Cancer research so support a GREAT cause!
