CTYA Top Talents Awards Gala took place on September 18, 2011, and rewarded excellence of Tamil youth in the community. The Outstanding Leadership Award was created to recognize an individual who has made a significant impact on Tamil youth by taking on a leadership role in the community. The outstanding leadership award aims to empower an individual for their excellent contributions while serving as an inspiration for other Tamil youth. The recipient will have motivated a group of people on a path to achieving goals by ensuring the understanding of the tasks needed to be completed, fair division of work, and satisfactory milestones in the work completed by his/her team. As well, the recipient will have portrayed the dedication necessary for the successful collaboration of individuals in a team and continuous encouragement to work towards their goals.
The ability to lead comes from within, from within an individual’s mind, soul, and heart. A leader has a unwavering vision, an unbreakable strength, and an inspiring path for others to follow. A path lead by integrity, dedication, compassion, restraint, and humility. The winner of the 2011 CTYA’s Outstanding Leadership Award is someone who undoubtedly possesses all these unique elements. This individual has been an influential and a positive role model in the Tamil youth community. He is a proud member of TYO – Canada, and a strong advocate for the Tamil community. He has selflessly committed his time and energy for the betterment of the Tamil community through organizing numerous successful campaigns and initiatives aimed at educating and making a difference for Tamils. He has courageously stood up for the preservation and fostering of the Tamil identity through all his efforts. He also inspires and motivates members of our Tamil youth community to become great leaders, to creatively share their passions, and to work together to achieve their common goals. He empowers our youth to become the new emerging voices of the Tamil community. He fosters unity, and friendship among us all. Strong leaders, those who can inspire during despair, motivate during misery, and advocate for justice during atrocities, hold a special place in our hearts. Anyone who has come across this young man, can sense his commitment, his passion, and his love for what he does. He stands modestly among us, but his message is strong and his vision is clear. He is currently studying his final year at the University of Ontario Institute Technology, majoring in finance and marketing. Congratulations to Mr. Vijayadhithyan Thanigasalam for winning this year’s Top Talents 2011 Outstanding Leadership Award!
