In the land of tea plantations
Extensive plains of fertile existence
Elegance and smiles fill the coconut trees
Where the prime apes invade the grooves
Parrots speak of heavy sunlight
That transform into deafening nights
Epilogues of humble farmers
And stories of exquisite mosquito bites
The tongues of the children populating the streets
Agony in the soles of their feet
From the blisters of the sun
Mantras of sweet Carnatic melodies
Echo into the earth, radiant of deep red
Rubicund
Crimson
Sanguine
Vermillion
They shared my language
They shared my culture
They shared my land
But they did not share my freedom
