The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) held its second annual Top Talents Awards Gala at Claireport Place Banquet and Convention Centre on September 18, 2011. Youth. CTYA recognizes and honors students who have achieved high academic goals through hard work and a dedication to learning.The Business Management Award falls under the category Academics Awards. It is academics that will shape and structure overall character, judgement, and ones outlook on life. Academics gives you the foundation and tools to achieve dreams and goals you set for yourself at a young age.
This year’s business management award is being awarded to a student who has tremendous perseverance, determination and passion for business management. She is currently studying her third year in Administrative Studies, majoring in Management at York University. Throughout her courses, this student has achieved excellent grades, well above the average. This past summer, she has participated in the Summer Company 2011 program through the Ontario Ministry where she planned, registered, and implemented her own business with the coaching and mentoring from local business leaders. Her business, Fairytale Fantasy, created skirts for children’s birthday parties and special occasions. She was one of the only participants in the programming who through careful planning, management and implementation was able to reach her target quotas. In addition, she has been a council member at the Student Council of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies, where she has volunteered at numerous events, and in decision making processes of the organization. This student has also realized the importance of using your skills to give back to the community. She volunteers her time to tutor younger Tamil youth, and works diligently to ensure that these Tamil youth have the tools they need to succeed academically. She has also volunteered with Sion Fellowship, for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Her success, perseverance and passion to learning and excelling in business through building her knowledge and experience in business management makes this candidate, an ideal recipient for this year’s Top Talents Business Management Award.
