Top Talents Awards 2011 – Classical Dance Winner, Miss.Anojini Kumaradasan

On September 18, 2011, the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) held its second annual Top Talents Awards Gala to showcase and reward youth who have excelled in their respective fields.  Through this recognition CTYA aims to motivate youth to continue to do extremely well in their fields. Furthermore, these youth can serve as exceptional role models for the younger generations. In the next few days, we will be profiling the award winners.

Art is such a simple term, yet so difficult to define. For various artists, art is a way of expressing themselves and for others it represents their dreams.  Art comes in such various forms and can mean a variety of things for each and every artist. The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance strongly believes that recognizing young, talented youth in our community will encourage many more youngsters to strive towards success. CTYA’s ultimate goal is to increase the representation of the Tamil community in the art industry.

The winner for the Top Talents Classical Dance Award demonstrates a strong passion and commitment to performing and practising Classical Dance. They demonstrate how participating in classical dance has contributed to their personal growth and how they have worked towards enhancing our community through their artistic talents. They illustrate creativity, hard work and determination in the pursuit of their talent. The applicants performance is creative, innovative and demonstrates strong ability in classical dancing as well as strong use of face and body expression. She has completed the Annamalai’s University Diploma in Dance in 2009, and has completed level 4 in vocal and violin, and level 6 in dance under the Thamil Isai Kalamanran at the Tamil Academy of Fine Arts and Technology. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at York University for Criminology.In addition to her dance, she is also involved in improving the community through volunteerism.  She has volunteered with the Canadian Scouts , Growing Together Reading, Tamil’s Information Magazine, Toronto District School Board’s Language Program, Sick Kids Hospital, and Free the Children. Currently, this recipient continues to participate and perform in many cultural and social performances. Congratulations to Miss.Anojini Kumaradasan for winning this year’s Top Talents 2011 Classical Dance Award.
