The Power of Scent

Scents have been used for thousands of years a way of eliciting certain moods, emotions and responses from humans. Today, we can obtain scents in a variety of forms: candles, oils, air sprays, pillow mists, perfumes, colognes, and sachets. Here are some popular scents that you may want to use throughout your day. It is always wise to consult your doctor before using any scents if you have allergies or have suffered reactions in the past.

Lemon – Lemon is an energizer. (As is the citrus family)

Lavender – Lavender is a great stress reliever, relaxer and is great to help induce sleep.  

Basil – Helps with concentration.

Chamomile – Used to promote sleep, relaxation and meditation.

Peppermint – A true energizer. Used to combat fatigue and muscle aches and pains.

Eucalyptus – Powerful decongestant, stress reliever, and aids in clarifying the mind.

Ginger – An energizing scent, ginger is widely used to help with nausea.

Nutmeg – Used by some to help with sleep and indigestion
