The Education and Career Development Council Introduces…. HEARTBEAT Campaign!

Written By: Education and Career Development Council of Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance

According to the American Health Association, in a Canadian study done over a 15 year period, those of highest Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) mortality were of South Asian descent. Can we blame genetics alone for this, or does the choices we make in our everyday lives contribute to the deterioration on our later years? Let us become a part of the Education and Career Development Council of CTYA’s Heartbeat Campaign to create a new health revolution within the Tamil and South Asian Communities.

As part of the Education and Career Development Council’s Campaign Heartbeat (Ithaya Thudipu), is launching an awareness campaign focusing solely on the heart health of South Asians, and in particular, Tamils.  We have come to realize that our generation is at risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes, all of which are intertwined. This campaign targets the first step; awareness and supplementary information and the latter step; action plans that incorporate lifestyle changes for prevention.

If you are a creative and enthusiastic individual ready to build and contribute to life altering changes, then we want you to join our team!
