As Mayor of the City of Brampton, it is my pleasure to offer my sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance and to the organizers and participants of Thaalam 2011.
This exciting dance competition promises to be a wonderful event that will bring together university and college dance teams from Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia and showcase their incredible talent to a substantial audience.
The arts are one of the most democratic expressions in our society, often enabling artists to communicate powerful emotions and themes to their audience. As an art form, dance draws both the artist and the audience into the act of expression, and crosses all cultures and ages.
I applaud the Canadian Youth Tamil Alliance for organizing this competition. I trust you will have a successful event and I offer my best wishes to all of the groups who will gather in competition on June 19 in Toronto!
