Thazhumbakam (Tamil Genocide Memorial Museum) will be launching its mobile exhibitions in May 2013. These exhibitions will be aimed at educating the general public of the crimes against humanity inflicted upon the Tamil people during May 2009, as part of the ongoing structural genocide perpetrated by the successive Sri Lankan governments. Exhibits will be held in various locations in Canada throughout the month of May as an initial stage of Thazhumbakam. |

Award categories include Academics, Athletics, Arts, Overall Achievement, Outstanding Community Contribution and Most Improved Student. Scholarships of up to $1000 will be awarded to Grade 12 students. Award winners will be recognized at CanTYD’s Awards of Excellence gala. The deadline for applications is June 30. |

Elisabeth Malini L. She is a Tamil Canadian contestant who entered Super Singer 3. She was born in France (St.Cloud) Paris, living now in Canada. She graduated from York University (Glendon Campus) 2004 with Bachelor of Commerce in French, Completed her Bharathanatyam Arangetram in 2001 under her Guru Ananthy Sridas Sasitharan, and is currently pursuing a double degree in Vocal, Dance & Minor in Mrithangam at Anaamallai University in Toronto, Ont). |

Nivedha and Yalini are holding a fundraising dance event, ‘Natya Sangaman’. Proceeds collected will be donated to Sick Kid’s Foundation and Enhancement of English Education in Vanni. Tickets are $10 each, doors open at 5pm. Nivedha and Yalini have both been featured as part of CTYA’s Thulirkal, Youth of the Week. |

The recipient for CTYA’s Engineering Award is a 4th Year Management Engineering student at the University of Waterloo who is very passionate about working within the construction field. His interests first began when he worked at construction sites during high school. Now as a university student, he has utilized his coop work terms at reconstruction sites at Bridgepoint Hospital, and various companies like PCL Constrcutors, McNally International & Coreydale Contracting to better his skills and knowledge. |

Renishaki Kamal is an enthusiastic and passionate individual at the University of Waterloo. Born and raised in Canada, she values her ethnicity and cultures and educates those around her about traditions and Tamil history! She’s usually easy to find in crowds as her pottu is her trademark. She has been actively involved in Waterloo, where she served as a First Year Representative to a VP Social Commisioner and also VP – Academic. this coming year, she will serve as President of the Student Union for the Faculty of Arts. She also currently serves as Arts Undergraduate Student Senator at University of Waterloo. |
