A Message from TYO-Canada:
In the 1970s Pon. Sivakumaran, a student leader was targeted and became martyr for standing up for the Tamils against the brutal and the genocidal Sri Lankan oppression. Today the Jaffna University Students Union (JUSU) along with the students continue to stand up for our people against the genocidal regime.
Jaffna University students got brutally attacked by the Sri Lankan Army. The student union’s president got arrested along with a few of his colleagues and was detained in Colombo where he’s being brutally tortured. Our brothers and sisters from Jaffna will be conducting a protest demanding immediate release of the students on Tuesday, December 4th, 201. The students in the north and the east of Sri Lanka are facing an attack not only on their right to express themselves, but also an attack on their education. Because this is a student issue, students all over the world will be expressing their solidarity with the Jaffna University students on Tuesday as well, and TSA alongside SCSU will be spearheading a solidarity rally.
WE DEMAND:
1) Immediate Release Off:

Ganesamurthy Sudarsan (Medical Faculty Student)
Kangasundaraswamy Janamejeyanth (Arts Union President)
Sanmugam Solomon (Final year Science Faculty Student)
2) Cease all forms of intimidation against the Jaffna university students
3) Immediately cease all forms of oppressive and genocidal government/military operations in the Tamil homeland.
We should note how unacceptable and outrageous the vindictive nature of the Sri Lankan military is against our fellow Tamil Students. In addition to this our fellow students across the globe will be protesting too on the 4th, insolidarity, with our brave youth in Jaffna.
