In Memory of Sergeant Ryan Russell

Today marked an important day for Toronto as it was a day thousands of Torontonians and police officers paid their final tributes and respect to Sergeant Ryan Russell. 10,000 officers from all over Canada marched in a procession down University Avenue to the Metro Convention Center where his funeral was held.

Sgt.Russell was tragically killed last week on duty after being hit by a stolen snowplow he was trying to stop. Sgt.Russell leaves behinds his wife Christina, his two-year old son Nolan and many loved ones. Sgt. Russell was a brave Sergeant, and will be missed.

Sgt.Russell has been described as an outstanding leader, role model, friend, and hero by those who were close to him.

On behalf of CTYA’s Blog Team, we would like to take this time to remember his dedication to his duty and towards the safety of Torontonians. We wish his loved ones strength and courage during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
