Happy National Volunteer Week to all our Volunteers!

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.- Margaret Mead

Happy National Volunteer Week!

National Volunteer Week (April 15-21), the 68th annual week, pays tribute to the millions of Canadian volunteers. We would like to thank all our volunteers for their hardwork, dedication and commitment to the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance’s initiatives. Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) is the largest combination of youth associations and groups nationwide with Tamil heritage, culture and language backgrounds. Together, through the alliance, we strive to educate and empower the youth in order to prepare them as transitional leaders of society.

We are proud of all the volunteers who have contributed their time in our many events over the past few years, and to those who continue to volunteer their time towards the betterment of the Canadian Tamil youth community. Canadians collectively have a history rich in volunteering and community involvement. 12.5 million Canadians, which is half the adult population in Canada, volunteer their time – from community programs, sports, arts and cultural programs, environment advocacy, international development, human rights advocacy to local initiatives, Canadians continue to give back and make their communities and world a better place. The contribution of volunteers are truly the foundation of the success of communities.

Through volunteering, you can also learn a lot. Volunteering gives youth an opportunity to explore possible career options, and see if it is a field they would like or develop many transferable skills through projects. Also volunteering allows potential employers to see your talents through actual deliverables. You’re making a difference not only to your community and to other individuals, but volunteering gives you personal satisfaction; people who volunteer are happier, and appreciate things better!

Canadian Tamil Youth have been active volunteers who continue to be leaders and advocates in their communities. Thanks to all our volunteers for making a difference! Every one of you have helped and made a difference! Our events and programs have all been a success because of your commitment and support. Remember, volunteers make a big difference to their communities, and the possibilities that can be achieved when likeminded individuals come and work together can truly be remarkable. Your contribution has only helped us achieve more for Tamil youth!
