DMK has asked the central government of India to take strong stance against Sri Lanka.  They urge the Indian government’s recognition of Tamil genocide and to call for independent international investigation on the genocide committed by Sri Lankan military during the last phase of the war between the Tamil nation and the Sinhala nation in 2009.

After the withdrawal of DMK from the UPA, Congress president Sonia Gandhi told her MPs at a meeting, “We are fully committed to the cause of Lankan Tamils and an impartial inquiry should happen into the allegations of atrocities against them.”

The Tamils all over the world have been showing support to the uprising of students in Tamil Nadu.

The draft resolution released this morning in Geneva is criticized by independent analysts as inadequately serving justice to the Eelam Tamil people.  The analysts further note that the resolution continues to give room for Sri Lankan government to continue its ongoing structural genocide against the Tamil Nation.  The voting on the US resolution is expected to take place on the 21st or 22nd of March.

The Human Rights Advocacy Council of CTYA calls upon the Canadian Tamil youth to continue to create awareness about the ongoing genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
