CTYA’s Athletics council along with ENA sports club hosted its first FIFA 12 tournament, December 18th 2011, as a fundraiser for future CTYA athletic events. It was ingenious idea presented to CTYA Athletics council by ENA sports club president Arasan. The proceeds will be used towards developing new athletics programs for our youth through CTYA’s athletics council as well as to cover expenses from previous projects.
The event was successful with many FIFA 12 enthusiasts attending. The tournament was held like a FIFA world cup with group stage then knockout to determine first and second place winners. The group stage was intense with players vying for first or second place to move on to the knockout stage. It was made more intense with third place wild card available for the two best third place finishers.
The knockout stage provided some classic games with several going to silver goal or even penalty shootouts. One game that went to shootout had one participant up two goals to none and ended tragically loosing as his opponent who won 4-3.
The finals ended up being between Thieva and Kevin. The contest was close in the beginning but Kevin pulled away with a huge score line as game ended 4-0. Congrats to Kevin and Theiva for finishing first and second respectively.
