Apparently, the world is going to end on December 21st, 2012. Yes, you read correctly, in some way, shape or form, the Earth (or at least a large portion of humans on the planet) will cease to exist. Stop planning your careers, don’t bother buying a house, and be sure to spend the last years of your life doing something you always wanted to do but never had the time. Now you have the time, four years of time, to enjoy yourselves before… the end. |

She pushed open her brown charcoal textured closet, as it squealed; her eyes had searched for her favourite orange sweater. Her hands got hold of them, quickly pushing her head and hands through their proper openings; she grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans and put them on. Who am I?By Editor - March 15th, 2010 |

I went out with a friend over the weekend, and we had a nice time. He’s Brazilian and I met a few of her other Brazilian friends. One of his friends asked me “Are you Sri-Lankan?” I replied, “No, I’m Tamil.” His reply was, “isn’t that a language, not a place.” And, I told him, I do not identify as a Sri-Lankan, and I’m from Tamil Eelam. Now, explaining this to someone who is out of the loop in terms of current events is a bit difficult, but I feel I get into this conversation every time someone asks where I’m from. I gave him the short answer that I’m from Tamil Eelam, and that is the traditional homeland of the Tamils before it was unjustly colonialized by the British and then wrongly handed it over to the Sinhalese majority. So I asked him back, where he is from, and he said he’s Canadian (even though his parents are from Brazil). |

Watching these commercials, you would think that Dove is promoting self-acceptance, regardless of age, size, colour, and body shape. It suggests that our perception of beauty is distorted because advertisements feature beautiful models do not even look like themselves in real life. But is that what Dove really thinks, or is it just an effective marketing tool? Read below to find out. |
