The Young Playwrights Unit (YPU) was first formed in 2000 to provide a FREE training experience for young people who are curious and passionate about play-making. This 2012-13 season, we take a page from our professional play development programs to offer a group of dedicated young creators a rigorous context in which to develop some of their first works.
The YPU process will culminate in a series of staged readings by members of the Tarragon Spring Training Project, echoing the work of our professional Playwright’s Unit whose season concludes with Play Reading Week.
There are no specific age restrictions, but we especially welcome applications from young artists between the ages of 17-21. This program requires a high level of commitment. YPU members will be expected to attend a series of performances and participate in play reading sessions alongside their own writing and creative processes.
The YPU runs from October 2012- May 2013.
