Top Talents Awards 2011 – Tamil Language, Ms. Virroshi Sriganesh

The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) held its second annual Top Talents Awards Gala at Claireport Place Banquet and Convention Centre on September 18, 2011! Youth will be rewarded for surpassing expectations in the field of their interest and this gala enables a platform to showcase their talent. Not only will this acknowledgment encourage youth to thrive in their endeavors but it also generates an appreciation for the outstanding talents that exist in our community.

Academics is one of the areas awarded at Top Talents. It is the academics which structure our overall character, our judgments and our outlook on life. The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance appreciates young academic achievers who persistently attempt to shape our community through the Tamil Language. CTYA recognizes and honors students who have achieved high academic goals through hard work and a dedication to learning.

The Tamil Language Award falls under the category Academics Awards. It is academics that will shape and structure overall character, judgement, and ones outlook on life. Academics gives you the foundation and tools to achieve dreams and goals you set for yourself at a young age. The Tamil Language Award is awarded to the individual who demonstrates perseverance, passion, and determination for learning. It is important to maintain the Tamil culture in Canada, especially when it is so easy to assimilate wholly into Western culture. The student must have the ability to participate in extracurricular activities while maintaining strong academic results. The winner of this award is an exceptional Tamil Language student in the advanced level Tamil credit course for 2010-2011. She has been learning the Tamil language at TACT since she was in grade two. Besides her strong abilities to write, read and comprehend in the Tamil language; she also sings, plays the violin and dances. She has taken up to grade six in both Vocal and Violin under the Thamil Isai Kalamanran, and will be taking the Teacher’s Grade when she is eighteen years of age. She has volunteered at places sucha as: the Tamil Academy of Culture and Technology, Trincomalee Welfare Association, Thamil Isai Kalaamanran, Flemington Tamil Education Centre, Sri Vidya Temple Society, Sri Varasiththi Vinaayagar Hindu Temple, and Niruthiya Seshthiran. Despite earning high level top marks in Tamil language, she fosters the growth of the Tamil language through her volunteerism. Congratulations to Virroshi Sriganesh on winning the Top Talents 2011 Tamil Language Award!
