The sixth anniversary of the Tsunami

The sixth anniversary of the Tsunami that swept away entire villages in South-Eastern Asian has approached. On December 26th, 2004 the tsunami which took place in the Indian Ocean has been marked as one of the biggest disasters of human history. The aftermath of this 9.0 magnitude earth quake caused thousands of deaths and displacements. Not only have lives been lost but many communities have been shattered.

During this time of year the Tamil community not only should remember the victims of the Tsunami but also as a collective should think of ways in order to rebuild the villages which were swept away by this massive earthquake. The missions to find displaced families, and rebuild homes still continue today.

There is still much that can be done in order for the reconstruction to be complete. So as youth from the international Tamil community let’s take time to remember the victims and also take on the initiative to complete reconstructions.
