Poetry is a form of literature that gives the author the freedom to freely expressing his/her thoughts, emotions, feelings, and yearnings; it has a language of its own, and it’s able to capture the mind of its reader.
Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance, held a poetry contest as part of the Thaalam 2011 events, to provide our youth with an opportunity to reveal their superb talents in writing poetry.
Theva S. has been selected as the winner of the ‘Poetry Contest: Dance and/or Inspiration’ held by CTYA’s Arts and Culture Council.
The winner received two complimentary tickets to Thaalam 2011 – Inter University/College Dance Competition. On behalf of the Arts and Culture Council we extend our Congratulations to the Theva. We wish you all the best in your future work, and encourage you to continue developing your talents!

இளையவரின் சக்தி
-தேவா
அலைகடல் போல் ஒரு மென்மையான ஒலி போல்
அந்த பொற்காலம் மனித வாழ்வினிலே
இளமை என்ற பூஞ்சோலையில்
தோன்றிய எண்ணற்ற கற்பனைகள்
ஆலமர விழுதுகளாய் கூடி திரியும் நண்பர் கூட்டம்
ஆடிப்பாடி திரியும் அந்த பொற்காலம்
அனுபவங்கள் ஏதும் இன்றி புதிய சாதனைகள்
படைத்து நிற்கும் அந்த பொற்காலம்
நினைத்தவற்றை நினைத்தபடியே செய்துவிட்டு
பிழை கண்டுபிடிப்பவரிடம் பேச்சு வாங்கும் அந்த காலம்
இந்த உலகையே ஒரு கை பார்ப்போம் என்று துடிக்கும்
அந்த இளமைக் காலம்
இனம் காக்க ஓடித்திரியும் ஒருகூட்டம்
தன் தேசம் காக்க மரணம் வரை செல்லும் ஒருகூட்டம்
தேசத்தின் தலைவிதியையே மாற்றி எழுதும்
வல்லமை கொண்ட மனித சக்தி இந்த இளையவரிடம்
உனக்கொரு சக்தி இருக்கென்று உணர்ந்திடு தோழனே
அந்த சக்தியில் தெரியுது இந்த உலகம் என்று அறிந்திடு தோழியே
புதுயுகம் படைத்திட ஒன்றாய் எழுந்திடு
