Kilithattu 2012 – National Game of Tamileelam will be happening tomorrow, August 26 starting at 8am at Major Abbas Ali Park (Renamed, but formerly known at McLevin Community Park, located at 180 McLevin Avenue). Be sure not to miss out on this great event and chance to witness Tamil youth playing the National Sport of Tamileelam! Kilithattu 2012 is being hosted by TYO-Canada.

Sri Lanka government shuts down universities

Sri Lanka’s government has closed down almost all universities. 13 of Sri Lanka’s 15 state-funded universities, apart from their medical faculties have been closed. It is unknown for how long the shutdown will last. Since July, academics were on strike in Sri Lanka to protest their disapproval of the Sri-Lankan government’s plans to partially privatize a tertiary education system, and of the”politicisation and militarization” of university campuses.

Tamileelam Challenge Cup Soccer 2012!

Athletics Council of CTYA

The battle to crown the new Tamileelam Challenge Cup Champion is fast arriving as the Athletics Council of Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) in joint partnership with Canadian Tamil Sports Association (CTSA) will be hosting the 2012 edition of the tournament at L’amoreaux Sports Complex. The tournament will be held September 1, 2012.
