Artist, Renishaki Kamalanathan

This week we feature Renishaki Kamalanathan. She is an upcoming artist who paints, writes short stories and poetry. She is a special events coordinator by job title and an entrepreneur and doodler by the hours outside of that nine-to-five lifestyle. She has exhibited many of her paintings and have sold her “expression” exhibit in the summer of 2013. This includes being a part of the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance’s Thazhumbakam – A Tamil Genocide Memorial Museum project. She has designed tattoos, logos, fashion lines, and have supported colleagues with brand development. Art will always be and has been a huge inspiring and motivational part of her life. Check out some of her pieces below!

RFT: Iron in Heels - Truth and Lies of Waistlines

So, what are women all over the world turning to in order to create this nearly “invisible” waistline? Waist trainers and waist clinches. These are corsets worn for up to twelve hours at a time to compress ones’ waist. This body modification has gained a lot of attention from fitness models, celebrities and your everyday gym goers; each with their own opinion on whether this route is the way to go or not. Initially, I was just skeptical of the product, but after doing some research, I can say that I am not a fan of what these waist trainers or waist clinchers are intended to do nor would I ever advise someone to go that route.

Chronicles of a Tamil Freshman – Part 8

She knew she would never be the same person again. And for as long as she lived, she would never forget the terror, grief and anguish that resonated within her, as well as the Tamil community, as a result of the Tamil genocide.
