Nature’s Finest

Nature offers us some the most cost-effective, natural and powerful beauty products in existence. Here are some of those herbs/foods which may be lying around in your own kitchen. If you have any pre existing health conditions, you should consult a doctor before using these home suggestions. Feel free to suggest your own!

COCONUT WATER: Coconut water has great hydrating properties that can moisturize dry, dull skin. Wash your face with it in the morning or night.

CUCUMBER: Cucumber is very cooling and it is used to soothe tone and moisturize skin. You can use cucumber if you have dry skin, or under eye bags. Just rub a few slices, rub all over your face, leave it for a few minutes and wash it off. For under eyes, keep the slices over and under your eyes for a few minutes before you remove them.

LEMON: If life throws you lemons, and you have an oily scalp and dandruff, use the juice for your scalp. It’s antibacterial and balances the pH of the scalp.

OLIVE OIL: Olive oil is extremely hydrating and is used to treat dry skin. You can mix a drop in your daily face cream, or rub on to extra dry areas (elbows, back of feet).

TEA: We all have been there, late night cramming and essay writing that leaves dark bags around our eyes. For under eye bags, tea (especially cold chamomile tea) helps soothes the skin and brightens under the eyes. Make tea, and keep the tea bags (once cooled) and place them on your eyes, or use cooled tea as a wash to revive the skin.

TOMATO: Tomato is a great astringent, toner and exfoliant. To benefit from it, mix the pulp to make a mask and apply it directly on your skin for 10mins and wash off. It’s not recommended if you have dry skin, but recommended for oily acne-prone skin.

TUMERIC: Tumeric has been used for years as an antiseptic to treat blemishes and breakouts. Tumeric has great healing powers. Since it is quite strong, only add a small amount to your cleanser in the morning or night.
