Groundhog Day is celebrated throughout Canada and the United States on February 2nd every year. According to an old tale, if it is cloudy when a groundhog comes out of its burrow, it will leave its burrow; this means that winter will end very soon. However, if it is sunny when the groundhog comes out of its hole, the groundhog will see its shadow and go back into its burrow signifying that winter will continue for six more weeks.
