I’ve been hearing a lot on the news about maternal health, and my mind skipped back to the debate over abortion. I know there has not been a general consensus whether abortion should be conducted or not, but let me present to you the sides.
I know the sides are usually categorized as “pro-life” (meaning keep the baby/fetes without aborting it) or “pro-choice,” (meaning give the women agency of her body) but I personally think that these two terms are a bit problematic, so I will just use abortion should be allowed, or abortion should not be allowed.
Abortion is legally carried out in Canada, but it not is not so in parts of the States and many areas around the world. In a country like Canada, we have a diverse population, who has various ideologies on moral and political issues, abortion being one of them. Let’s hear your views on abortion.
Again, I just am presenting the two sides, I am not advocating for either side.

ABORTION SHOULD BE ALLOWED
Women should have agency over their body, and be able to control when they want to have a baby. If the women conceived the child out of wedlock, was raped, or is unable to care for the baby due to financial or personal circumstances, then she should be able to decide whether she wants to have a baby. Also, women may not be ready to take care of a child, or may already have many children who she is supporting. In some cases, abortions are conducted on mothers who choose to have abortion after finding that their baby will have a disease.
ABORTION SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED
The child has the right to live, it is a life, and why should that child be not given a chance to live? Regardless of the circumstances, the human species thrives on human population, and we should not control that. Some individuals misuse abortions and choose to abort female children, and this has resulted in disproportion ratios of males to females in some countries.
