On Sunday February 7, 2016, Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) held its Annual General Meeting.

The meeting was initiated with a moment of silence, followed by adjustment and adoption to the agenda. The CTYA events that took place during 2015 and the accomplishments for each of the five councils were then presented and discussed. Some of many successful initatives held during the past term were; Thaalam the Ultimate Gaana Dance competitions, the ongoing Robotics classes, Tamileelam Challenge Cups for Volleyball, Soccer and Cricket and as well Thazhumbakam – the mobile genocide museum.

Elections for Council directors were held with Chief Returning Officer supervising the election process. Each nominee presented a speech to articulate why they should be elected for the position they were running for. Following the elections process, any new motions the directors submitted to discuss were acknowledged and voted upon.

The meeting ended on a constructive means, with a slightly newer but strong, enthusiastic and motivated team ready to tackle the approaching term.
