Anjali Appadurai, a young Tamil-Canadian student is making headlines for her outspokenness regarding climate change at International Climate Change Talks in South Africa. Anjali, a development economics and global politics major at the College of Atlantic (United States) boldly challenged the dignitaries on their lack of progression in setting targets to fight climate change.
Her speech was thought providing, bold and strong. She spoke on behalf of youth, “half the world’s population” and non-governmental agencies, urging that change in climate change is within our reach, but not enough is being done to combat climate change.
Her video has been posted and shared widely on Youtube, and has been praised from many including journalist and best-selling authour Naomi Klein, who called Appadurai a “hero”.
