Thaalam Inter-University/College Dance Competition

The Arts and Culture Council of Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) is proud to announce that ‘Thaalam 2011’ will be held in the John Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The John Bassett Theatre has been the chosen venue for many nationally-televised award shows, and countless national and international TV specials. We are proud to be able to host ‘Thaalam 2011’ at such a state-of-the art and outstanding venue. ‘Thaalam 2011,’ an inter-university/college dance competition was initiated by CTYA’s Arts and Culture Council after requests by Tamil Student Associations (TSA) for an avenue to display their artistic talents.
The Arts and Culture Council of CTYA is responsible for creating an environment for youth that is inspiring and conducive of self-expression through the arts and culture. Among its key objectives are the improvement, re-orientation and expansion of programs that promote the arts and Tamil culture to Canadian Tamil youth and the broader Canadian community. Hosting ‘Thaalam 2011’ within Toronto’s Entertainment District provides participating teams with a strong avenue to display their talents.
