After working for TWO hard weeks, York University Tamil Students Association (YUTSA) finally came to the completion of multicultural week 2010. With all the dedicated members of YUTSA, we showed what strength in numbers we had and received FIRST PLACE OVERALL FOR 2010! YUTSA received many great accomplishments last night which included, FIRST PLACE for the parade, FIRST PLACE for the stage performance and THIRD PLACE for the food fair. But of course our biggest achievement was winning first place overall among all the other cultural groups at York U!
YUTSA really did live up to it’s mission statement, “empowerment through unity to strengthen and preserve identity!” We came, we saw, we conquered. This year’s Multicultural Week theme was about freedom, and YUTSA showed the crowd how freedom was meant to be! None of this could have been done without the dedicated members who showed up to practice every day, and those with the creative mindsets. Remember, 2010 is the year of the tiger, and freedom is not so far away =)
