A career in law enforcement is extremely rewarding, challenging and offers many opportunities for personal/professional growth and development. There are recruitment options that go beyond just policing at the YRP such as crime analysts, communications, records inquiry bureau, human resources, information technology, auxiliary service and volunteering.
The YRP represents one of the most diverse communities of Canada: the City of Markham. In an effort to reflect the diversity of Markham/York Region, the Uniform Recruiting Committee of York Region Police holds information sessions targeting different ethnic communities every year. Markham Councillor Logan Kanapathi and volunteers would like to hold the first ever information session for the Tamil community, specifically targeting Tamil youths to help them develop an interest in a possible career in law enforcement. However, this information session is open to everyone who is interested.
