On Friday September 23rd UTSC TSA will be holding an ultimate frisbee tournament. The event will be taking place in the field in the Utsc Valley, near the baseball diamond. It will start at 12:30 PM and end at 5:00 PM. There will be a limit of 9 teams allowed to participate so register your team soon! Each team must have 8 players per team and the registration cost for each team will be $40. All it takes is a 5 dollar pitch per person on the team and you will have 40 bucks to register your team! All proceeds go towards donating to Think Pink Breast Cancer research so support a GREAT cause!
The rules are simple. You and your team of 8 including you must get the frisbee into your end zone. You are not allowed to move if you have the frisbee, you can pivot on your foot and you must pass to another teammate. If your team gets the frisbee into the end zone you have scored a point! The other team may intercept the frisbee or play defense on your players, so be careful!
The proceeds will be donated towards breast cancer research through Think Pink. Think Pink is an annual charity event run by the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus, in which various clubs will be participating and fundraising to support CIBC Run for the Cure. The money collected goes towards breast cancer research which is a topic that hits home to many people. In Canada alone, there will be nearly 24000 new cases of breast cancer in 2011. Hopefully with further research, we will find a cure.
