Toronto Star’s Emerging Artist Cover Competition

This is a contest some of you artists may want to consider participating in:
The winter holidays conjure up many images, and now budding artists can turn their favourite seasonal
scene of Toronto into the Star’s next front page.
 
The artist with the best submission will win $2,500 and their art will be featured on the Dec. 24th front
cover of Canada’s largest circulation newspaper. Second and third place winners will have their art
featured on the Star’s website and be awarded $1,000 and $500, respectively.
 
Artists are restricted to a single entry and must adhere to the theme, “Winter Holidays in Toronto.”
 
The deadline for submission is 11:55 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2010. Entries must be submitted through the
entry form below and all entrants must have an Ontario address.
 
Entries will be judged by a team of creative professionals, and the winners will be notified by Dec. 20.

  • Physical specifications: 

·         Theme: Winter Holidays in Toronto

·         Image size: 10” x 13”

·         Medium: Any two-dimensional (2-D) medium: painting, illustration, digital illustration,
mixed media, etc.
 
  • Technical specifications:       

·         File type: JPEG

·         File size: under 1 MB.

·         File name: Entrant’s “ Surname, Firstname.jpg

 Entries that do not meet these requirements will be automatically deleted and disqualified.

NOTE: If you are selected as a potential winner, you must be able to provide a high-resolution file.

An entry is only considered complete when the information form has been filled out and submitted, and
the artwork has been e-mailed coverartist@thestar.ca .
