On September 18, 2011, the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) will be hosting its second annual Top Talents Awards Gala. This event will showcase and reward youth who have excelled in their respective fields. This recognition will motivate youth to continue to do extremely well in their fields. Furthermore, these youth will be exceptional role models for the younger generations.
One 
of the categories of the awards are Arts Awards. Art is such a simple term, yet so difficult to define. For various artists, art is a way of expressing themselves and for others it represents their dreams. Art comes in such various forms and can mean a variety of things for each and every artist. The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance recognizes young artists who constantly strive in building our community through each of the following areas: Classical Dance, Classical Music, Urban Music, Marital Arts and Visual Arts.
The Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance strongly believes that recognizing young, talented youth in our community will encourage many more youngsters to strive towards success. CTYA’s ultimate goal is to increase the representation of the Tamil community in the art industry.
In order to qualify for the arts award there are several criterias one must meet, including:
- Must demonstrate outstanding ability and achievement
in one of the arts, as demonstrated through
your work in a studio, in public performance or a
creative portfolio.
- Display creativity, hard work and determination in
the pursuit of your artistic talents.
- All Visual Arts applicants must submit a portfolio
with three pieces of work including descriptions
while all other applicants must submit a 5 to 8
minutes video of their performance (must be performed
after January 01, 2009). Video must be given
in a DVD or Mini DV form.
- All those who completed private training in either
of these fields must submit names of institutions,
dates of graduation, and certificate/diploma received.
Those who have completed either Vocal or Dance
Arangetram must provide dates of completion.
The nomination deadline for Top Talents Awards 2011 is August 15th, 2011. If you or someone you know is an outstanding achiever, submit your nomination package as soon as possible.
