Thaalam 2012: M.P.P. Peter Tabuns, “hopes, that the Thaalam Inter-University/College Dance Competition becomes a fixture on the calendar of many Torontonians”

Arts and Culture Council Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance

Dear Council Members,

I am please to write on behalf of myself and the constituents of Toronto-Danforth to thank the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) on the occasion of their second Thaalam Inter-University/College Dance Competition, in Toronto on June 24, 2012.

I wish only the best for your organizers and competitors in a display of friendly and determined competition, held in the spirit and the camaraderie of youth. Knowing that post secondary school commands much time and energy commitments, which can often preclude students from being able to excel in extracurricular activities, makes the commitment of these final troops; their choreographers, and designers all the more impressive. Congratulations to all!

We are lucky, in the City of Toronto, to be able to enjoy the benefits from wide array of the world’s cultures. Without leaving our city we have the chance to soak in song and dance, dress and sights from every corner of the globe. Today, I am pleased to be able to include my hopes, that the Thaalam Inter-University/College Dance Competition becomes a fixture on the calendar of many Torontonians for years to come.

To the performers and organizers I give heart-felt thanks and best wishes.

Sincerely,

Peter Tabuns, MPP Toronto-Danforth
