Tamileelam Challenge Cup – Soccer (August 20, 2011)

Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) is proud to announce that CTYA in partnership with Canadian Tamil Sports Association (CTSA) will be holding its 3rd annual Tamileelam Challenge Cup Tournament.

Soccer has a strong presence in the Tamil community here in Canada.  Over the many years Tamil soccer teams competed to be the best amongst our community.  The Tamileelam Cup represents the height of the Tamil League since its launch in 2009.  The desire and passion for the cup brings out the best Tamil players to this tournament.  Since 2009 the tournament witnessed great games, lots of support for teams and numerous fans of the tournament.

The Tamileelam Challenge Cup also presents an opportunity to maintain our identity through sports.  It is an excellent way to promote our youth and showcase their talents.  To further encourage the Tamil identity, the awards for best players of the tournament will be given under the names of national symbols of Tamil Eelam; Vaahai being the national Tree; Siruththai being the national animal; and Chenbagam being the national bird.

The tournament will occur August 20, 2011 at L’Amoreaux Sports Complex in Scarborough.  The Tournament has age groups for under 6, under 8, under 10, under 12, under 14, under 16, and open men’s.  To register a team, please email: athletics@ctya.org or contact CTSA at: 647 274 9366.  Good luck to all participants!

CTYA’s Athletics Council seeks to provide Canadian Tamil youth with an avenue to develop their leadership skills through athletics and recreational programs. The aim of this council is to educate through athletics, promote outstanding sportsmanship and build team spirit.
