Article 1: We Are All Born Free & Equal

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a document drafted by representatives of different political, legal and cultural backgrounds around the world, which outlines the standard of human rights. It outlines the 30 most fundamental human rights, which are to be universally protected, and applicable to every individual on the simple premise of being human.

As stated in the previous post, Remembering May Massacre, for the next 30 days we will be looking at each of the 30 fundamental human rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and will see how each and every human right was not upheld for the Tamils. Today, we will be looking at Article 1. We are all born free and equal.
