The Education and Career Development Council of CTYA alongside its Writers Network: Power of the Pen will proudly be hosting its 2nd poetry slam on May 31st 2012. The event will be taking place at the Alumni Lounge upstairs of the UTSC Student Centre on Thursday May 31st, 2012 from 6PM-9PM.

Photography Contest: Strike a Pose – Submission Deadline Extended

The submission deadline for the Photography Contest, “Strike a Pose,” being held as part of the many events for Thaalam 2012 has been extended to Sunday, May 27, 2012 by 6pm. If you are a dancer or a photographer, this contest if just for you. The Arts and Culture is accepting photographs that capture and display dancers in action, whether it be a dancer posing, a dancer performing on stage, etc.

The Global Tamil Youth League (T-League) strongly condemns this act of intimidation and violence. It was an attempt to instill fear in students and silence their voices for justice. The atrocities carried out against the Tamils in Mu’l’livaaykkaal is a reality and cannot be denied or forgotten.

City of Toronto’s “Will to Intervene” Day Proclamation

The Human Rights Advocacy Council of CTYA attended the official proclamation of May 10 as “Will to Intervene” Day in Toronto. It appeals to Torontonians to help prevent mass atrocities and make “never again” a reality. The cities of Vancouver and Calgary have also joined in reinforcing their cities commitments to preventing mass atrocities.

Photography Contest: Strike a Pose!

This competition is open to all Tamil youth between the ages of 13 and 30. Submissions will be accepted until 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. All submissions will be uploaded on Facebook and will be open to be voted by audiences. The individual who submits the winning photograph will be rewarded two complimentary tickets to Thaalam 2012.
