Article 4. : No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Slavery. For many people, when they hear the word slavery, the first thing that comes to mind is the Black slaves of America, Harriet Tubman, and the Civil Rights Movement. Many people also think that slavery has been abolished and is no longer in existence in the world. This could not be further from the truth, sadly, slavery is alive and well, and has changed forms. Sexual slavery is a form of slavery that has become widespread in many developing nations. The trafficking of women and children, and forced prostitution is growing.
