Happy New Years!

On behalf of the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) we would like to wish you a Happy New Year! We hope this year brings happiness and peace to the world. New Year’s is a time to reflect upon the successes and failure of the past year, and is a time to give thanks to the many people who have brightened your past year.

During this upcoming year, we encourage everyone to persevere. Perseverance is a “steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.” Throughout this year, do not let difficulties and roadblocks prevent you from achieving your goals, instead, rise up to the challenges you are faced with and continue to work towards your aims, projects, and goals. History has showed us that the greatest triumphs and accomplishments ever achieved were done so by men and women who never gave up and overcame countless obstacles. This year will bring you 365 days, you have the choice over how you will react to the situations, challenges, and opportunities that are given to you, imagine the possibilities for 2011 if you persevered and rose above these challenges. We also encourage you to think about how you can make the world a safer and better place, and work towards doing so.

During 2010, we have created many initiatives in order to showcase and nurture the talents of Tamil youth. Highlights of this past year’s initiatives include CTYA’s first Annual General Meeting, Top Talents Awards Gala, Tamileelam Challenge Cup (Soccer and Cricket), Gift of Life Campaign, Muthamizh, 30-day May Month Universal Declaration of Human Rights Educational Posting, Human Rights Workshops, VOTE 2010 Municipal Election Campaign and we participated in the Tamil Heritage Month activities.

We would like to extend our thanks to all our members, member organizations, participants, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and well-wishers for your hard work, belief and support throughout this year. We look forward to another successful year in 2011.

CTYA will continue to work towards empowering Tamil youth in 2011. Events and initiatives for 2011 include the  Canadian Tamil Film Festival (CTFF), TSA Dance Competition, Top Talents Awards Gala, Tamileelam Challenge Cup (Soccer and Cricket), Bridge 101 Mentoring Program and many more!
