December 2004, the media flooded with the news of a major tsunami that had struck many and left behind broken homes and broken bones. Lives were lost and homes were destroyed as the waves of the sea swept over our people’s land. To help overcome the tears that were shed for everything that was lost, fundraisers were created, one of which we called Nivarana Alaikal

‘Waves of Relief’ or Nivarana Alaikal is a talent show created in… 2005 as a fundraising event to help rebuild what was lost and was proven to be very successful. UTSC TSA has carried on the event as an annual talent show fundraiser, continuing to display the creativity of individuals through the form of performing arts. This year our hope is to raise enough to sponsor a child back home, or if our proceeds are enough to help build a school back home.

Anyone who wants to witness an entertaining event showcasing dance, drama, vocal and instrumentals and support our goal to provide a better future back home is invited to come to the CHINESE CULTURAL CENTRE on JULY 30th. Doors will open at 5:00 pm, the show will begin at 5:30pm SHARP, and doors will close at 6:00pm.Tickets will be available soon at UTSC. We hope to see you all there!
