Nimal Subramanian, an 8th grade student from California, son of scientist originally from rural Madurai, has been selected as one of the top 60 contestants for Google Science Fair 2011 Award. Now, among these 60 contestants, the winner is selected by popular vote. It is very encouraging to see Nimal Subramanian, a Tamil youth reaching this level. Interestingly his project is on indigenous plants like turmeric and cumin.
