You know, sometimes when you lose something, you feel so anxious until you find it. The moment you realize, you panic, and try to retrace your steps trying to figure out where you misplaced it. You search everywhere it could possibly be, you ask everyone if they’ve seen it. Then, a week goes by, you still search for it, but not as hard. Then, a month, a year, a couple of years, but as time passes, your search intensity undoubtedly wanes, sometimes to a point where you’ve accepted whatever is gone, is gone, and that it’s lost.
Then one day, when you least expect it, it shows up. And, it’s just there. And, you realize how it’s been there, right under your nose, or somewhere where you should’ve checked. You find what is lost, but in doing so, you’ve lost time. You’ve lost energy, you’ve still lost, despite your gain.
I lost something, and I almost forgot about it, I thought I lost it, but I didn’t. It just showed up, and was there, staring at me. I wish I never found it, some things are better lost.
