Katka Kasadara- Education Expo 2012 [Recap]

This past weekend on Saturday January 28th 2012, the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance ‘s Education and Career Development Council in partnership with CASSA, TACT and Arivakam held Katka Kasadara, Education Expo 2012. The event was hosted in order to bring educators and community members together to create awareness about education issues, to share useful information and celebrate excellence of education in our community. Throughout the day from 10AM-4PM many parents and students ranging from various ages took part in workshops, seminars, panels and engaged with community organizations and activists which held booths related to over 30 topics about education and careers.

“This event was a great way to educate parents about the education system in Ontario. Events like Katka Kasadara are crucial in our community to help parents get involved with their child’s education” said Tharmiya Balendran, one of CTYA`s Education and Career Development Council’s board of directors. Katka Kasadara was an important event and we need to host this event in our community on an annual basis. In many instances children and parents are not on the same page when it comes to schools and education. By hosting this event with various seminars and workshops it not only teaches parents and children about our society`s education system but also gives parents a chance to interact with their children.

Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance’s Education and Career Development Council would like to whole heartedly thank all of our volunteers, partners and community organizations who made this event possible.
