The Arts and Culture Council of Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance hosted an online music contest called Isai War over the past few months with the goal of recognizing and promoting the musical talents of our youth. The competition consisted of four rounds which took place over the duration of four months. Each month, the contestants were asked to submit a song that they composed based on the given theme for the month. Voting for the songs took place on CTYA’s YouTube Channel each month. Audience showed their support to the musical compositions on YouTube by “Liking” their favourite song. Each month, the contestant who submitted the song which received the least number of “Likes” was eliminated from the contest.
Five contestants, Ezzy, SM Ram, Ramesh Selvarajah, SE Boyz and Dynasty Naren, took part in this online music competition. Participants were asked to submit an introduction song of their choice for the first month of the competition, followed by creating and submitting musical pieces based on the themes passion, family/friendship and freedom for the following months.
The last month’s competition took place during the month of June between the two contestants SM Ram and Ezzy. Following a close competition between the two contestants, Ezzy was declared the winner, winning by more than 20 votes.
The Arts and Culture Council of CTYA would like to congratulate Artist Ezzy, formally known as Athi Rasanathan, for his victory in Isai War. Athi will be receiving $500 worth of gift certificates as his prize. Congratulations to Athi and we wish him and all the other contestants of Isai War the best of luck in their musical careers.
