As City Councillor for Ward 19, Trinity-Spadina, it gives me great pleasure to extend greetings and a warm welcome to the attendees of Thaalam 2015: The Ultimate Gaana Competition.

Hosted by the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CYTA), this much anticipated dance competition brings together hundreds of exceptionally talented students and provides a stage on which they can showcase their passion for dance.

Year after year the competition captivates audiences and provides an environment that cultivates artistic growth. It is a testament to our vibrant arts communities and shows that Toronto is, and will continue to be, a city where the arts come to thrive.

Congratulations to CYTA and to all those who have worked tirelessly to deliver what is sure to be a very exciting event. Please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable event and continued success.
