Contest Winner: ‘Tamil Heritage through Photography’

Our Tamil culture and heritage is very rich and beautiful, and through the submissions received, it was evident that Tamil youth take great pride in our heritage. The submissions displayed great passion and pride for photography and Tamil Heritage. The winning submissions successfully captured elements of Tamil culture and heritage that resonated with many peers who showed great support by voting for their choice.

By 8pm on Monday, May 30th two of the photographs received an overwhelming support of over 790 ‘likes’ and were merely separated by 3 votes.  The ‘likes’ continued to grow thereafter.  Considering the voting channel and other possible constraints, the Arts and Culture Council decided to award both photographs with the winning prize.

Therefore Aphiraa Nirmalarajan and Gayathiri Senthilrajan are selected as the winners of the ‘Tamil Heritage through Photography’ contest.

The winners will receive two complimentary tickets each to the much-anticipated Thaalam 2011 – Inter University/College Dance Competition. On behalf of the Arts and Culture Council we extend our Congratulations to the winners, and all the participants. We would also like to recognize Jananie Baskaran for receiving tremendous support from the voters. We wish you all the best in your future work, and encourage you to continue developing your artistic talents!

Winners, please contact Arts and Culture Council at 647 865 2892 to obtain your prizes.
