Power of Pen, Young Writers Network now accepting submissions for CTYA’s Top Talents 2011 Booklet

Coordinators of Power of the Pen are looking forward to publishing emerging, established and talented writers’ work in the booklet of CTYA’s second annual awards gala: Top Talents 2011.

Youth members of the Human Rights Advocacy Council of the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) also participated in the plantation and remembrance. Through this initiative, the Human Rights Advocacy Council of CTYA aims to continue its goal of educating our youth and the broader Canadian society about the ongoing plight of Tamil people.

Top Talents Nomination Deadline Extended

The nomination deadline for Top Talents Awards 2011 has been extended to August 15th, 2011. If you or someone you know is an outstanding achiever, submit your nomination package as soon as possible.

TYO- Canada – ‘I REMEMBER’ Black July Campaign 2011.

This initiative taken by TYO-Canada is commendable. These youths saw the importance of awareness, and initiated a campaign that successfully worked towards educating Torontonians about the plight of the Tamil people.

Tamileelam Challenge Cup – Cricket (July 30 and July 31)

To further encourage the Tamil identity, the awards for best players of the tournament will be given under the names of national symbols of Tamil Eelam; Vaahai being the national Tree; Siruththai being the national animal; and Chenbagam being the national bird. Many of the players of last year’s Challenge Cups expressed much pride in partaking in a tournament that not only provided them with an avenue to showcase their talents, but celebrated the Tamil identity through the naming of the awards after the national symbols Tamil Eelam.
