Thaalam 2012: Heat or Thunder? And the winner is ....

With the polls closing 10 minutes prior to the end of the game, 18 CTYA fans had correctly predicted OKC Thunder to be the winners of the game. Witnessed by the Thaalam 2012 Coordinating Committee, the names of all the 18 fans were entered into a draw and a name was drawn on Friday, June 15, 2012. Click here to find out who won!

We are lucky, in the City of Toronto, to be able to enjoy the benefits from wide array of the world’s cultures. Without leaving our city we have the chance to soak in song and dance, dress and sights from every corner of the globe. Today, I am pleased to be able to include my hopes, that the Thaalam Inter-University/College Dance Competition becomes a fixture on the calendar of many Torontonians for years to come.

“It has been said that , “Dance is a delicate balance between perfection and beauty.” This competition is the culmination of many hours of practice and dedication by the competitors from the Tamil community in Canada. I am amazed by the beauty, skill and precision required to perform a dance routine and each of the competitors should be proud of their efforts.”

An overwhelming amount of support was received from the Facebook audience for all the submissions made to the contest. By 8pm on Tuesday, June 12th one photograph was in the lead with over 790 “likes.”
