And I nominate…………the Internet!

The internet has been nominated for a 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. Can you believe it, the Internet.   By no means do I want to undercut the value of the Internet, but common, do we have a shortage of people that we need to nominate the Internet? This is ridiculous. What’s next, Facebook?  Yes, the internet has united people, made sharing information easier, and has been used to mobilize people in peace movements, but I still think that it is just a tool, and the ideologies and values behind the activists who use the Internet that is greater and more worthy. And, the Internet has also been very destructive, I mean, a lot more fights, cyber-terrorism, arguments, etc. That’s just my opinion, and if the Internet did win, who would receive the prize? I mean, some people who have united the world, and helped achieve peace have not received it, like Mahatma Gandi, but the internet is being nominated? (Gandi was nominated, but he never won it) I think that we have a long way to go in terms of achieving peace if the Internet wins.
