Youth for the Youth – Robotics Workshop Recap

The Education and Career Development Council of the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) held a Robotics Workshop for students in Grade 4 to 8 this Sunday at Arivakam Library.

With the guidance of youth mentors, students programmed robotic devices to execute different movements and motions during the workshop.  The students expressed excitement in having programmed these robots. Through participating in the workshops, students learn skills that will prepare them for the upcoming Robotics Competition in April 2012. Furthermore, by providing students the necessary tools and knowledge to build and program robotic devices at a young age, they will be provided with a foundation that can aide their future education and career development.

Workshops will continue weekly where students will learn more basic robotics development and programming. The aim of the Education and Career Development Council is to help provide the necessary resources that integrate academic and applied learning to support youth in optimizing future education and career opportunities.
