Tamil Students Unite For The Relief Of Haiti

On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, the Tamil Students Association of the University of Toronto St. George campus (UTSG TSA) held a charitable basketball tournament entitled “HOOPS FOR HAITI”! All proceeds from this event went directly towards Haitian relief!

“Coming from Tamil community that has been suffering for the past decades, we know what its like to need other people to care about our cause.  That’s why when Haitian people are going through what they are going through right now, it’s really important to help them out,” said Ramya Janandharan, Vice President External, UTSG TSA.

Many youth participated in this tournament, all of them happily contributing to help the affected people in Haiti.  “Generosity is one thing we can give to the world,” mentioned one of the participants at the tournament.

According to European Union, 200, 000 people have been killed due to the devastating earthquake so far, and many others have been left injured and homeless.
